4 Pillars of Vicki’s Vision

Excellence in Education:

Montgomery County Public Schools should be a key contributor to empowering all students to become independent, accountable, self-supporting adults with basic academic and life skills, personal development that supports acceptance of others and wise decision-making, as well as career options that support their immediate entry into the job market or that prepare them to advance their education for entry into the job market.

  • Focus on the 3Rs for all

  • Arrange advanced & specialty classes with Montgomery Community College

  • Lower the average class size and increase individual tutorials/small classes for struggling students

  • Allocate by contact hour as much money per academic student as is allocated for each student in an extra-curricular program

  • Increase the hiring of and rewards for high-performing teachers

  • Prioritize mentoring programs

  • Maintain the physical plants of schools, building only if a school can no longer be maintained

  • Require that students be on campus during regular school hours

  • Assure safety at school facilities

  • Graduate with full academic honors only those who meet standards for 12th-grade core competencies per nationally standardized tests

  • Graduate with full technical honors only those who meet standards for 9th-grade core competencies per nationally standardized tests and meet "industry" standards for core competencies in a specific technical area

Government That Works for You:

Affordable Homeownership:

  • Focus on homeownership, not rentals

  • Affordable, not luxury homes

  • Reserve existing affordable homes by tailoring housing rehabilitation loan programs that focus on Condominiums and cooperatives that are on the verge of insolvency but have been evaluated by Sustainable housing specialists as salvageable

  • Compile a comprehensive list of all County services (with fees charged), rebate programs (with Fees charged and potential rewards) and administrative reporting required of owned multi-family Dwellings (i.e., condominiums and cooperatives), and compare same with traditional, single-family homes

Resident-Focused Development:
